Rippling Effect

My departure date is scheduled for Tuesday, October 11th out of Newark Airport, N.J.  I have been spared by not having to travel the Belt Parkway to JFK.  It will take me three days to arrive in Mwanza. First, I travel to London and have a day layover.  That night, I fly to the east coast of Tanzania to  Dar es Salaam.  The following morning I will take a short flight to my final destination, Mwanza.

Though I haven't step foot on a plane, I feel as if my journey has already begun.  I had a wonderful volunteer orientation week with the CMMB staff and this year's volunteers.  The orientation was held at the retreat house, Stella Maris in Long Branch, N.J.

The week was fueled with valuable information regarding the role and mission of the volunteers.  We were honored with veteran volunteers who shared their experiences and wisdom.  Most importantly, it was an opportunity to develop cohesiveness with the volunteers and the CMMB staff.

There was a thread that connected us, and I believe it was the recognition of the valued work of CMMB.  Our role is not to move mountains, but perhaps be that stone that creates a rippling effect.

My thoughts and prayers will continue to be with those who are serving, and for all the
individuals who have made our missions possible.  Special thanks to the CMMB staff, family, friends, and the faith community of Holy Cross Church and School, Rumson, N.J.
