Is it Possible That Laundry Can be Fun?

The students of Morning Star Secondary School ham it up during chores.  Note the beautiful cloths that they use to protect their clothing as they work on the premises.  They are certainly not camera shy!
It's ye ole fold, stack, and poise.
Japhet draws water from the well to water plants.
Assisting at the well.
Sunny days on the compound!

  1. The pictures are amazing, and you look really good-you are shining!!
Is that their school uniforms they are wearing? Aren't they really hot? Seems like with all the clothing (looks like wool) it would be impossible to wear in this climate.
It's a beautiful NJ autumn Saturday morning.
    Be safe

  3. Hi Mrs. Gallo. Its Julia I was wondering if you could get me a souvenir. Can it be sand? I collect sand and it would be a perfect addition to my collection. I have other sand from all around the world except from Africa. I would really appreciate if you did.
    Thanks,
    Julia Forsyth

  4. Hi Julia! How about a rock? Mwanza is nicknamed "The Rock City" because its surrounded by granite rock. The coastline borders the southern portion of Lake Victoria, the second largest fresh water lake in the world. Can you guess which is the largest?

I plan to travel along the East African coastline, and I will certainly collect some sand for you to add to your collection.

Say Hi to Mr. McCabe for me! My best to you and your family!

P.S. Marcie - you did it!

Hi Jill - the weather is arid and dry because of its higher elevation. We are presently on the perimeter of the rainy season so
we experience periodic rains and occasional downpours. Late afternoons can be breezy so the students will sport a sweater. Their uniforms are a heavy cotton for durability. However, when the sun is shining it's hot, and I continually ask them, "Aren't you hot in that sweater?" It's all to what you are acclimated to I suspect.

Thank you for your continued support! Always wonderful to here from you!

  6. hello friend... you look radiant... and the smiles of everyone are just mesmorizing!!! Once again I agree with the amazing Jill... the uniforms look so hot... but it also seems there is a sense of pride that they are lucky enough to be wearing them. I also wanted to share that most of my African Art is Massai...and I do believe you posted that some of these people are!!! it makes it even more precious to me now because you are there among them. Devon would like a rock too!!! it could even be a pebble... what we really want is YOU!!!! I told her she'd have Mrs. Gallo back in time for her 10th birthday!!!! Take care of you and keep making memories... and sharing it with all of us

  7. Hi Mrs. Gallo,

How are you doing? It's Conor (M). I just needed to ask you a question. Last week my mom had mentioned the idea that I email you and ask that since you were returning to New Jersey in March if you would consider being my sponsor for Confirmation, for we are all making the sacrament in May. I thought that would be a great idea, I don't really know any other adult who is not related to me that I would consider for Confirmation. What do you think? You can put it to thought and get back to me when you can. I hope you are doing well! School is going well.

    Best wishes,

    Conor
