Shoes Across Borders via Holy Cross Preschool

Mrs. Jill Fulton, Director of the Holy Cross Preschool, spearheaded a fund raising project with her staff, students and their parents.  The preschool raised $1,200 towards the purchase of shoes for the preschool students of the Tawawami Project in Ilemela, a sub-region of Mwanza, Tanzania.

The majority of the children that attend the Project are either orphaned or fostered in a relative’s home.  The shoes will either replace their battered shoes or will be the first pair that they have ever received as their own.

Pictured below is a bird’s eye view of my foot travel to the Project. Please note the students enjoying the crayons and color paper that was generously provided by the Grade 7 students of Holy Cross - through their fund raising efforts.

On behalf of the Tawawami Project, I would like to express my appreciation again to Holy Cross School for their continued support and charitable donations.

Due to Holy Cross’s efforts, I am pleased to announce that there are additional funds left over that will be going to the construction of 10 new desks and benches for the Project.  To say the least we are all extremely excited in Ilemela!  The prospect of teaching the students from desks verses the crowded floor will be a tremendous plus to their education and understanding.  The faith community of Holy Cross has certainly answered many of the hopes, dreams, and prayers of the Project.

Look forward to seeing pictures of the students sporting their new shoes at their newly constructed desks.
THANK YOU!
